I suppose Mr. Murdoch is thinking that after the loss, one needs to admit the insanity of the Palin situation before it becomes more of a millstone around the neck of the party his network supports so consistently. It's odd, because I remember just days earlier they were defending her credentials... and you Fox news viewers can vouch for that.
