Nothing is better than learning, really.
I am awake on 2:39am on the fourth of July, learning.
I am doing this while listening to Dar Williams of all things and if I keep it up I'm pretty sure I'll grow ovaries. Dar Williams is one of the many things I accidentally got members of my family into. I've never heard such a mix of great and absolutely awful lyrics as the blend found in "The Ocean", off of Mortal City. Honestly, it's a little embarrassing that I find the lyrics to the last part so bracing -
After a day, we drink 'til we're drowning,
Walk to the ocean, wade in with our workboots,
Wade in our workboots, try to finish the job.
I was introduced to this album by the same person who introduced me to my wife and if if you knew Marie you wouldn't be surprised. I wish I knew where Marie had gotten to... I know we wanted her at our wedding but I think she felt awkward. It's sad because we really should still be friends, though I haven't thought of her in probably a year or two. Maybe I'll go look her up.
I've just realized that there was one other person back in the day who was a Dar Williams fan, and our friendship officially ended this week. That was weird. Not weird like I'll miss her, because honestly we hadn't spoken in years, but it that made me notice the passage of time.
But seriously. I don't know how lucky I am.
In closing, this is Dar Williams. She looks pretty much as I imagined.

Hey! Notice how I kinda sorta updated the header?
And hey also, look what I just found! No one who reads this now even knows why this is awesome! You should know, though, that this flyer is from 1998 and I was in Benny's Joyride. That band deserves a post at some point...
